The Cleveland Medical Library Association, founded in 1894, is an organization of physicians and other health care professionals interested in preserving medical literature and historic materials. The Association oversees the Allen Memorial Medical Library and its collection of approximately one million prints dating back to 1471, while providing financial support to the Cleveland Health Sciences Library. The CMLA has been in its present location at 11000 Euclid Avenue since 1926.
Health professionals in northeast Ohio who are not directly affiliated with Case Western Reserve University may use the services of the Cleveland Health Sciences Library by becoming members of the CMLA. Basic membership services include borrowing privileges, photocopies of articles, interlibrary loan, and computerized literature searches.
The CMLA publishes a Newsletter biannually, and also holds an annual meeting.
